TRANGLAR (V-Games, 2 players, ages 8 and up, 15-20 minutes; €29,99)
In the World of Games, abstract games occupy a place of their own. Abstracts center on the underlying mechanisms of play, generally avoiding any hint of theme, and there have certainly been many classic abstracts. Even non-gamers have heard of such venerable games as Chess, Go and Checkers. But modern times have also given rise to very successful modern abstracts including the highly regarded and popular Othello. Designer Apostolis Georgiou has used Othello as a springboard and inspiration. As with Othello, the object of his game is to have more of your pieces turned to your color than your opponent. But there are more differences here than just changing the circular pieces of Othello to triangles in Tranglar.
