[It doesn’t happen that often, but some games seem to inspire multiple reiterations or reworkings or rethemings. Such turns out to be the case with Fantasy Realms. Not only did it inspire Red Rising from Stonemaier Games (featured in the Summer 2021 GA Report) but it has also served as the inspiration for the retheming and reworking found in this issue’s Star Trek: Missions. Lands of magic and monsters, of heroes and armies, of wizards and artifacts, have long populated books, television and films. Games are not immune to this appeal as enchanted domains have served as inspiration for many. The latest to bring such a setting to life comes from designer Bruce Glassco in his game Fantasy Realms.
